Ray Charles. Though his dream is yet to be fully realised we feel hopeful that we can achieve this for him.
This is a story of great timing.
And a happy ever after to be accomplished.
One day, as Justine was on her way to the next town to get more supplies she came across an injured, battered and sad dog collapsed in the middle of the road. These roads are long, bumpy and barren. No buildings or means to find shelter and food.
Left to fend for himself with no opportunity to source the very basics he would need.
It is uncertain whether he had been hit by a car or had dragged himself to the middle of the road but he had definitely given up and was unable to walk..
Many would perhaps drive on by. Ignored what was in front of them. Probably some already had.
BUT not for Justine. This boy was worthy of so much more than being left on the road to be hit by car and to face an anguished death.
He was gently scooped up and taken to the vet to be given the best care and help he needed.
Ray Charles had all the evidence of traits of a chain dog.
Course fur that had been battered by all weather’s
A head that had never felt the caress of a kind hand or the softness of a loving kiss.
A gratitude to discover a warm touch, gentle voice and offer of food.
Although Ray Charles tested positive to heart worm and all tick bourne diseases, he was treated for these and is now completely clear of these.
Ray Charles was also found to be blind. This could have been due to the trauma of being hit by a car or otherwise deterioration of his health.
We will never know as he cannot tell us.
He seems to have a little of his vision restored.
What he does tell us is that he is a very happy and loving chap.
He shows us that he has a sweet nature and stubbornness giving him the will to live.
He tells us that cats are so boring and that young and bouncy dogs are annoying.
Ray Charles is in his senior years. Possibly approx 9 now but those first 8 years were not kind to him. He now deserves the softest of beds, the reliability of food being served, and the warmth of his special human easily at reach.
Ray Charles will not want long walks in the forest or hikes up the mountain.
A leisurely saunter and opportunity to check out the scents will satisfy Mr RC.
A safe place to be off lead to be his own man would benefit this old gent.
Can you give Mr RC his forever ever after sofa to lay his beautiful head?
